Breathe Through Grief: Restorative Yoga & Tea Meditation
Sunday, April 30, 2023 ~ 2 pm to 4 pm
The pain of loss comes in many forms. Whether you’re grieving the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, a home, or a beloved pet, it’s important to grieve them all. There are many healthy ways to support yourself through your grief journey. When we grieve together, we heal together.
The Nathan T. Deslippe Memorial Fund is pleased to present the Breathe Through Grief™ Wellness Series offering free grief events in the community for adults, children and families in partnership with Nathan’s Urban Farm, Bereaved Families Ontario Southwest Region, Hutton House, The Patch, Peaceful Pine Wellness and beTeas/The Tea Lounge. We know how important it is to explore what supports you best within your grief. This series is being offered as an invitation to experience new ways of creating space for yourself, for your grief.
The first of the series is Breathe Through Grief™ Restorative Yoga & Tea Meditation for adults 18+ taking place on Sunday, April 30th (2pm-4pm) at Nathan’s Urban Farm, located in The Grove building, situated on the grounds of the Western Fair District.
Find healing in stillness through the calming practice of restorative yoga, lead by Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher and Community Herbalist, Gayatri Katie Jeresky, of Peaceful Pine Wellness.
Restorative yoga is a slow practice, with long passive holds being supported by blocks and bolsters to create a sense of release. Nourish yourself with the breath, gentle movement and rest. Suitable for all ages and those new to yoga.
Then you will be guided through a tea meditation using herbs to support inner peace and grief allowing you to sip and calm. Tea meditation involves being mindful and present during all aspects of the tea ritual, including making the tea, drinking the tea, and being aware of the effects on your mind and body. Information about the herbs used to make the tea will also be shared to deepen your connection with plants. Tea is generously donated by Peaceful Pine Wellness and beTeas.
Following these inward wellness activities, we will end the session with a sharing circle to connect with others in the community also facing loss, hosted by Social Worker, Cheryl Wituik from Bereaved Families of Ontario, Southwest Region. When we grieve together, we heal together.
We hope you can join us and look forward to meeting you!
